Wow, Fiona - you stole my thunder.
I'll add a couple of things. I hate to make personal phone calls. They were part of my business plan, but I finally took them out because I wasn't doing them and I was always frustrated with myself. I don't really enjoy chatting on the phone, so it just wasn't a natural thing for me to do.
The only way I'm comfy placing a call is if I have a darn good reason for it. If I'm calling simply to mark a name off my list, it won't go well. If I feel I'm pestering someone, I'm sure it comes across loud and clear. I figure that I've done more damage than good with my effort.
However, I have no problem making calls if I actually have a purpose - a real purpose. For example, I do enjoy going out for lunch, coffee or cocktails with my friends. It's fairly easy for me to call someone and invite them out, believe it or not (although email is easier of course). Or if I have a bona fide question for someone - easy peasy. Or to thank them for a referral or other favor. Or, of course, since I'm a girl... it's easy enough to call a girlfriend to whine about the DBF (although I try not to do that too often - bad for the credibility unfortunately).
Here's a blog I wrote awhile back about this very topic: http://activerain.com/blogsview/512303/SOI-Seduction-Tips-for
So, Ron, stop fretting. You need a new plan to reconnect with your SOI. It doesn't have to be a blanket plan, just take it slow - name by name. Do a mass-email to the crowd (non-salesy), maybe send out a reconnection letter, but RELAX.
