I'm glad to have found this group!

From reading the forums and related material here, I realize having folks over can count as a subtle, fun marketing plan. So...here I am ten days from Christmas. Should I plan an informal open house party for next week or maybe the week after Christmas? (Nothing like last minute. lol)

With some effort, I could invite friends, neighbors, a few relatives, some acquaintances from church and civic groups...keep the food friendly and casual (Costco is my friend...) The house is already decorated...just need to spiff and clean a few more corners. We don't go out of town for the holidays AND my son, his wife, and baby will be coming home. If I plan for when he gets here, I could invite some of his old friends.

Good thought or not?

Suggestions? I'm looking at rocking this business so I can make dollars asap. (More about that another time...)

Thanks!

Absolutely! Yes!!!!!

Any sort of SOI get-together will pay for itself - maybe right away, maybe down the road. As long as you don't dance on the tables, of course ;-]

If it sounds like fun to you, then I'm excited for you. Wish I could come!

I think it's a great idea! Next Halloween I will be having a doggie costume party. So many of my friends, neighbors have doggies and we are all crazy enough to dress the poor things up, I figure why not have them over. Our yard is fenced in so they can play in the yard while us mommy's sit on the deck with a cocktail. I think those types of get togethers are easier for me. For one, I LOVE dogs Smiley

Let us know how your party went and what suggestions you have for those of us that haven't done one yet.

Well, I chickened out on the pre-Christmas bash. Next year, for sure.

I'm considering hosting a post holiday 'Whew, we survived' gathering with my neighbors. Soup, salad, conversation. Then the same type of event with some church and writing friends a day or two later.

In the meantime...I've ordered two of Jennifer's books. They should be here by Wednesday. Guess what I'll be doing the rest of the week?  Wink

I SOOO get the chickening out! But you know what? One day you'll get really inspired (maybe this week!) and you'll Just Do It... and I think you'll have a blast.

Happy reading!
