Howdy folks! I got a quick question for the masters of Soul...
I am in new territory here. I am working with a couple that fell into my lap. They got my name as a fluke and gave me a call looking at some land. This is the first time that I have dealt with someone that I either didn't know, or didn't know the person that referred them to me.
My question is this. I met with them tonight and went over what they were looking for and price range and all that. At the end of the deal, they liked what I had to say, but said they just called me to get some info on that piece of land. They definitely want to do something and somewhat soon, but they need to take some time to talk about it. I say, "Hey, no problem. I'm actually leaving on vacation for a very long weekend, so I'll just check up with you when I get back." They liked this idea and I said I would talk to them next week. So, how often do you check up with them without being a total PIA?
On a side note, I had to laugh a little to myself. I kind of had a "whoops" moment. They are looking at some land, which is NOT my area at all. I told them that from the get go. If they move forward, I will bring another agent in on the land deal because it is just not my specialty and I don't want them to be harmed by it. Tonight I brought a few listings for land that I thought they might be interested in. We then moved on to talking about their house compared to what's sold in the neighborhood recently. The wife stopped me and said "I can tell your specialty isn't in land." I stopped and am sure I had a questioning look on my face. She said, "you are much more excited to tell us about our house and how it compares to the neighborhood".
I had to laugh to myself a little on that comment. I would have to agree with her, I really like residential property and investment property. I reminded her that was my area of expertise after she said that and we all had a laugh over it. I also reminded them I would have another agent with me if we went forward with the land deal.
I just found it funny because it reminded me how much I love this job and am glad to be back in it......
