Congratulations renjdiana,
Good for you!!!! I am not a pro....just a newbit like yourself, but I interviewed at a lot of different agencies before I found the right fit. I asked about all the topics you listed but I also got a lot of insights about the agency/manager when I asked these questions:
1) What type of person seems to do well at this agency? 2) When you were an agent, what was your approach to the business?
I found those two questions gave me a good idea if I was on the same page as the agency beliefs and the "boss" in the office. If the responses focused more on agent goals than caring for the clients, I figured it was probably not a good match. When I met the broker at the agency I am now with, he breezed through the "standard stuff" upfront but then focused on learning more about me. He really emphasized the need for ethics and integrity and he gave me lots of soulful reasons to work there.....and I have not regretted my decision in the slightest. Just a thought.
Good luck....this is all soooo exciting for you! m:-)

Maggie, that's a great point! My friend Lois is going thru her training right now and it's a great source of entertainment for us both. Yesterday was "Scripts/Prospecting" class - I can't wait to see the handout of that one.
The vast majority of agent training focuses on prospecting. If you're lucky, you'll get training on technology (the MLS, contract software, CMA's, etc.). But there's very little on Being Worth Your Commissions.
After your first interview, you'll have a much better idea of what to ask and how the interview will go.
I think I'm going to start a sticky thread on this topic in the Rookie's section...

Hi,
My name is Tas and I'm a brand new almost licensee. I have sat for and passed my license exam on 12/22/09 and am looking for a broker to hang my license with. I've been "lurking" on the boards for some time, without writing because of the fact that I am shy with strangers. I've decided to take the plunge and write because of all of the encouragement that Jennifer has given me over the past couple of months.
Hopefully, I will be working in the Hudson County area of NJ, where I currently live with my husband. Unfortunately, we've only lived in this town for a couple of years, and being shy I only know my neighbors. We have no kids (so no networking at the local bake sale) and no dog (no networking at the dog park).
Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Happy Holidays!

Well, I'm another newbie here. I got my California Brokers license a few months ago and signed up with a local broker about two weeks ago, then promptly went on vacation. We're holding off on signing up with CAR and the MLS until after the New Year so I didn't have to pay any fees I wouldn't get to use until I got back. In the meantime, I've been listening to Guy Berry's CD's, What the Contract Really Says, and reading SWS.
I've spent many years becoming a Renaissance man, or jack of all trades, depending on your perspective. My last endeavor was to get my masters in Music Education, just in time for the local college to start downsizing. No biggy, now a move into real estate.
I start training with my broker the first week in January, so we'll see how much is prospecting. The broker I signed up with moves the most volume of real estate in local area, offers the most training, holds the most open houses week in and week out, and offers regular floor time. Plus, I like the people there and haven't heard a bad word about the broker's office from anyone. I figured it was a good place to start (and hopefully stay if all things work out).
I am most assuredly not a cold call, call FSBO, or expired listing kind of guy, and was very excited to find SWS, which resonates really well with my personality.
Thanks for giving us a great place to meet and talk!
